How Does MVHR Work?
Mark Heat Recovery Systems offer great service from start to finish. From the sale right through to the aftercare service.
How does Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) work?
Step 1
Dirty, stale air is continually extracted from all the wet areas (Kitchen / Utility / W/C / etc) by the heat recovery unit, through unobtrusive white steel ceiling or wall mounted extract valves.
Step 2
This air then makes its way through a smooth bore anti static radial ducting system (75mm or 90mm), directly back to extract manifold by directly connecting each inlet/outlet there is zero leakage from there then back to the heat recovery unit via galvanised rigid ducting. Before being discharged outside, it passes through the counter flow heat exchanger giving up its heat to the cold fresh air coming into the house.
Step 3
The warm highly filtered supply air is then pre heated using the heat recovered from the extraction and re distributed (up to 96% efficiency) ensuring no cold draughts, which must be avoided.
Step 4
The supply air is now delivered through the smooth bore 75mm / 90mm radial ducting, through ceiling or wall mounted supply valves by the heat recovery unit, to all the habitable rooms (Lounge, Dining Room, Family Room, Study, All Bedrooms) resulting in whole house ventilation.
The Benefits
Benefits of MVHR
Health Benefits
Ensuring your health and well-being requires continuously replacing stale, contaminated air in your home with fresh, highly filtered air from outside. A Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) system can supply your house with a constant stream of fresh air, offering numerous health benefits. Before this air enters your home, it is filtered to remove dust, pollution, and pollen, fostering a healthier living environment.
Highly energy efficient
A HRV system ensures high energy efficiency and significant savings on heating costs. Unlike outdated systems that merely dump the heat from extracted air outside, an HRV system transfers this heat to the incoming cold, fresh air through a plate or counter-flow heat exchanger. Our heat exchangers are of the highest specification and heat recovery efficiency, enhancing your SAP rating rather than detracting from it.
Cool your home on hot and humid summer days
During hot and humid days, the Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system will take over, extracting the heat generated on your property and circulating cool, filtered fresh air throughout your home. This eliminates the need to open windows and doors.
Remove stale and unwanted odours
The fresh air from the MVHR system will combat everyday strong odours in your property, such as those from cooking and pets, which would typically linger for days.
Benefits for asthma and allergy sufferers
By controlling the humidity within your home, dust mites will find it harder to breed, reducing their population and helping asthma and dust mite sufferers breathe more easily. Ensuring a continuous supply of filtered fresh air is the quickest and most effective way to eliminate house dust mites.
An end to condensation problems
Moist air in your home can lead to condensation issues, causing significant damage and expense. A highly insulated house can suffer from these problems if it is not properly ventilated. A Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) system will ensure that all moist and humid air is continually removed from wet areas in the house, preventing condensation and fungal growth, which can be seriously detrimental to the occupants’ health.
No more trickle vents or extractor fans
A whole-house heat recovery ventilation system eliminates the need for trickle vents in your windows and extractor fans in wet rooms. This solution fully complies with building regulations, so there’s no need to ruin your brand-new, expensive windows!
Leave your windows closed while you sleep
Worried about leaving your upstairs window open while you’re in bed? The MVHR system will continuously supply fresh air throughout your home, eliminating sleepless nights spent worrying about security issues.
